UPCOMING EVENTS |
The Les Cheneaux Arts Council (LCAC) was founded in 1993 by a group of local artists and friends, dedicated to promotion, education and participation in the Arts in the Les Cheneaux Community. LCAC is a member of the Les Cheneaux Community Foundation. We offer a variety of classes and workshops throughout the summer and provide scholarships to local artists.

The 2023 Summer Classes have come and gone. The LCAC class instructors had a ball and they wish to thank all of the students that attended art classes. Here is a look back at what everyone created.

Arts Council volunteers donate their time and talents each year by offering face painting to the attendees of the annual Frog Fest Festival. This outdoor event is put on by the Les Cheneaux Watershed Council. The event is free to the public and offers science exhibits, live specimens, games and much more! This year we had a large crowd of kiddos line up, wait patiently and picked the design they wanted painted. We look forward to seeing their excitement and can't wait till next year! |
LCAC Scholarship Committee Chair Jackie Gaspar-Moore noted how important art is to the Les Cheneaux area, and she presented two scholarships to local students. Arlo Krino of Cedarville and Samantha Huyck of Pickford honored with $1,000 scholarships as they pursue higher education. Both artists had work on display during the reception.
Mr. Krino works with graphic ink and digital art and will be attending North Central Michigan College in Petoskey before transferring to a university. Ms. Huyck mainly works on digital two-dimensional artwork and will be attending the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Both were grateful to receive financial support for their ongoing studies. |
